Custom Massage

Traditional Swedish massage is blended with complimentary Deep Tissue techniques to create a customized treatment tailored to meet your needs. Stretching and heat may be used to loosen joints and reduce muscle tension even further. Intensity of pressure is decided by you. Feel free to request more or less pressure at any time during the massage. Sessions may include a touch of the therapist's specialties to enhance your relaxation. At the Metta Center, it is our goal to leave you feeling refreshed and pain-free.

Pregnancy Massage

This therapeutic massage includes specific techniques catered to each trimester that provide relief for common discomforts during pregnancy. This soothing technique can decrease back pain, muscle cramps and pelvic pain due to structural/postural issues associated with pregnancy. It will assist your body for delivery by helping increase elasticity and range of motion in the joints and muscles associated with childbirth. Research has shown that pregnancy massage strengthens the immune system, decreases blood pressure, decreases stress hormones, shortens labor time and offers stress relief. This research is documented by the Touch Research Insitute of Miami

Thai Massage

Thai massage is unique in style, yet offers the same therapeutic benefits of traditional massage therapy. The passive yoga-like stretches, in which the therapist guides the client's body into the movement, facilitate deep relaxation and help improve flexibility. The dynamic pairing of these stretches and muscle compressions, in which the therapist uses her palms, thumbs, elbows, or feet, effectively reduces muscle tension and encourages the body's energy to flow in a balanced state. At the heart of this modality is metta, a compassionate intent cultivated by the therapist that enhances the benefit of this treatment.

Hot Stone Massage

The Metta Center's hot stone massage incorporates Swedish and deep tissue techniques with the incredibly soothing power of heat. Calm and comfort are evoked as you experience the sensation of warmed basalt stones placed underneath you (tucked next to your shoulder blades, mid-back, glutes and calves) and on top of your body (at your upper chest/sternum and navel). The weight of the smooth stones encourage you to drift into a state of deep relaxation. Your muscles are further softened as the stones are incorporated into the massage strokes. If desired, deep tissue work is then focused in tight overstressed areas such as your shoulders and calves.

Scar Tissue Release Therapy

Scar Tissue Release Therapy is a gentle and effective technique used to decrease the dark coloring or congestion of scar tissue. This technique will be offered after filling out a health history form and discussing the injury with the practitioner. Most likely it will combined with a custom massage.

Sports Massage on the Mat

A revolution in mat massage, this is the perfect way to address your most frustrating 'areas of concern.'  It combines stretching, strengthening exercises, and elements of Thai Massage to restore balance and function to your body.  Since your body changes with each new day, this massage will adapt to meet you where you are, and take you where you want to go.

Aromatherapy Massage

Using the power of plant essences, various essential oils are incorporated into a Custom massage through inhalation or dilution in massage oil. Peppermint can reduce headaches and migraines, Lavender is wonderful for bringing calm and tranquility and Eucalyptus effectively opens up and relieves sinus congestion. These are just a few examples of the many therapeutic qualities of Essential Oils.

Fertility Massage

Fertility Massage is a unique and effective massage protocol, including fertility awareness, cleansing therapies and visualizations that Claire Marie Miller developed through her own experience of consciously conceiving her daughter Jessica Hope in 1984.

Following years of demonstration models who conceived shortly after receiving a fertility massage during the workshop, it was expanded into a full stand-alone training for massage therapists.  Even though many of these students were told that they'd never conceive, after receiving a fertility massage often a student did conceive within one to two cycles.

Reiki

Reiki originated in Japan and is a gentle, hands-on technique used for stress reduction, relaxation, and deep healing. It is a simple process that includes hands on and just above the body that can easily be incorporated into massage therapy or enjoyed as a treatment in and of itself.

Reiki is highly recognized and recommended in many hospitals before and after surgery and is contributed to easing symptoms of chemo therapy.  Reiki can be beneficial to everyone of all ages including those that may be restricted from massage therapy. It can also be a wonderful experience for mothers to be.

During the session, you may experience warmth, coolness or tingling as the practitioner places her hands on specific areas of the body. Other physical, mental, emotional or spiritual changes may be noted at a later date. Reiki treatments are used for relaxation, stress reduction and relief of emotional or physical pain. Deep relaxation is experienced as your body accepts as much energy as it needs in that moment.
