What to Expect at The Metta Center from Start to Finish

Booking your Appointment:

We have a convenient and user-friendly online booking system for both massage and yoga or you can us a call at 571-340-3293 during office hours and an office coordinator can assist you. 

Our Office Staff Hours are as follows:
Tuesday - Saturday: 10:30am - 5:30pm
Sundays: 11:00am - 4:30pm
Mondays: 10:30am - 2:00pm

Arrival to the Office:

Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early so as to allow ample time to fill out paperwork (new clients or return clients we haven’t seen in 2+ years) and relax before your session. All sessions have a specific start time and arriving early allows for a relaxing and unhurried experience. 

  • You will be welcomed by metta center staff and asked to wash you hands.

  • If you are a new client/student or a returned client we have not seen to 2+ years, you will be asked to fill out a New Client Form. If you would like to fill this out before hand, you can access them here.

  • You can fill out your paperwork and/or wait in 2 different locations depending on your preference. We have a relaxing Serenity Room or our Welcoming Office. The choice is yours!

  • Tea and water available for you for before or after your session or class

Massage, What to expect:

  • After your paperwork is filled out you will be greeted by your massage therapist and will shown to your treatment room.

  • Once in the treatment room, your massage therapist will ask you any questions they have about your form and what are your intended goals for your massage. If you have any questions before your massage starts, you can ask them at this time.

  • After your discussion with your massage therapist, they will advise you to dress down to your comfort level, which way you lay on the table and then they will step out of the room to allow you some privacy.

  • During your massage your massage therapist will check in with you from time to time about pressure, temperature, etc. If you are not fully enjoying something during your massage (pressure, music, essential oils, bathroom break, etc.), please let them know! You are not bothering or insulting them if you do.

  • When your massage is done, your massage therapist will step out of the room again to allow you some privacy to get dressed. Once you are ready you can make your way to the front desk.

  • Your massage therapist will offer any recommendations that they think will befit you post massage. Then they or office staff will assist you with the check-out process and can set you up with your next appointment if you would like.

Yoga, What to Expect:

  • After your paperwork is filled out, if payment is due for your class, you will be asked to pay before heading down to the studio.

  • Please remove your shoes and place them on the shoe rack next to the front door, as we do not allow shoes to be worn in the studio.

  • If you have personal items you would like to take with you to the studio, there are cubbies and coat hooks in the studio.

  • You are welcome to use the restroom in the foyer before heading downstairs to the studio for your yoga class.

  • Your yoga instructor will review your paperwork and welcome you to the space.

  • Settle in for your class, giving yourself plenty of compassion and kindness during the practice. Yoga is intended to be about practice not about perfection.

  • After the class is complete, you are welcome to ask your instructor any questions that you may have.

  • They can also support you in getting rescheduled for your next class if you would like.


Privacy and Confidentiality:

Privacy and confidentiality are maintained at all times. Records are kept secure and safe. Clients are draped with a sheet at all times during the session. Only the parts of the body being worked on are exposed. Sessions are non-sexual therapeutic massages. Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.


Creating a pleasant massage & Yoga experience for everyone

  • To keep those with scent-related respiratory system issues safe, both massage therapist/yoga instructor and clients are asked to be free of heavy perfumes, colognes and other possible allergic reaction triggers.

  • Clients will let their massage therapist/yoga instructor know if they need to use hypoallergenic products, or if they should *not* use essential oils during the session\class.

  • Massage therapist/yoga instructor and clients will bathe/shower before arriving at The Metta Center, whenever possible.

  • Massage therapist/yoga instructor and clients will strive to keep the noise level in the massage rooms and studio at the 'relaxing' decibel level, keeping voices low, footfalls light, and electronic devices silent.

  • Massage therapist/yoga instructor and clients will keep the relaxation of others in mind when in the hallways and the 'Serenity Room.'

  • Massage therapist/yoga instructor and clients who have any communicable pathology will stay home while they are contagious. This includes illnesses, communicable skin conditions, etc. *You will not be charged a cancelation fee for canceling within 24-hours if this is the case.

  • Always let your massage therapist know when something is interfering with your enjoyment of the massage, whether it be related to pressure, temperature, lighting, scents or anything else. We strive to customize your massage to your needs, and we depend on you to clearly communicate what those needs are.
